Step inside the grand Painted Hall and discover the venue dubbed the UK's very own Sistine Chapel!
Located in the heart of Greenwich, inside the Old Royal Naval College, lies the Painted Hall and it's magnificent Baroque interior. The venue's intricate decor, from floor to ceiling, will have you mesmerized from the moment you enter. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, the Painted Hall reopened in 2019 following renovations, and has since become a popular visitor attraction for its beautiful artwork. Arguably its biggest masterpiece is its ceiling designed by Sir James Thornhill in the 18th century - which took him 19 years to plan and perfect!
You can also discover the picturesque grounds that surround the Old Royal Naval College and its fascinating history. Learn how it was the birthplace of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, and how it was originally built in the 17th century as a home for returning marines.
